The game

A tavern at the edge of everywhere

You inherit a neglected tavern at a magical crossroads. Behind its sagging door: a cold hearth, one table and a handful of gold. In front of it: a road full of travellers who are hungry, tired, and a good deal more interesting than they first appear.

Hands-on hospitality

Chop, simmer, bake, pour, carry and scrub, all in first person with your own hands. Leave a pie on the heat too long and it burns, and the stove stays busy until you throw the ruin out.

A tavern that grows

Renown opens the supplier's shelves, and the crowd changes with it. Deep-delvers refuse carrot soup, so offer them something else and a new kind of guest walks through your door.

Expeditions with a purpose

Short trips into the wild, from glowing caves to autumn woods, for rare ingredients, recipes and stories. Whatever you carry home changes what happens at your tables.

Co-op, never required

Play alone or with up to three friends. The whole game can be finished with two, and extra hands bring speed and delightful chaos, never exclusive power.

Rhythm of play

A day at the tavern

Every shift tells a small story. The host decides when the sign turns to OPEN, so your group sets the pace.

  4. 4

    Explore

Take a short expedition for the things no market sells.

  5. 5

    Grow

Unlock dishes, rooms, staff and stranger guests, and begin again.

Your regulars

Guests with opinions

Every people has its own taste. Feed them well and they remember it; get it wrong and they will tell you, politely or otherwise.

Wayfarers

Road-worn travellers off the crossroads. The first faces you will serve, and the ones who keep the lamps lit while the tavern is still finding its feet.

Grovekin

Woodland folk with a sweet tooth. They love soups, tarts and honey cake, and will push a mushroom pie straight back across the table.

Deep-delvers

Cave-dwellers who will not touch carrot soup. Give them mushroom pie or carrot ale instead, and they come up the road to your door.
